Inspiring Brighter Communities with a Bright New Website

The greensplash team were delighted to be contacted by Cheshire West and Chester Council to design a new website for Age-friendly Cheshire West, with the borough recently becoming part of the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

Age-friendly cities and communities are places where people of all ages are treated with respect, regardless of their age. They are places that make it easy for older adults to feel included and valued and stay connected to what is important to them. They enable people to be happy, healthy and active, even at the oldest of ages, and provide support to those who need it.

Flexible Web Design

Flexibility was key for the new website, with the intention of it starting as a microsite with the ability to grow and evolve over time as the initiative develops. For that reason, a simple to use Content Management System was required to enable the team to add new pages and content over time when needed.

Varied Demographic

Due to a varied demographic of users for the new website, the brief was to create a website that was simple to use and navigate for all users. With the pre-existing brand using exuberant colours that project positivity and vibrancy, the website needed to replicate this with positive, inspiring and intergenerational imagery throughout. Compliance to accessibility level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 was required and adhered to, ensuring inclusivity for all.

Collaboration

With new events taking place throughout the community and being promoted on the new website, this is a growing and evolving project that we were immensely proud to be part of. Age-friendly Cheshire West is working closely with other partners in the borough, including older adults, NHS, community organisations and the University of Chester.
